creating a Toposurface from scratch and adding pavings and site components.
- To follow along, start a new Revit model.
- Go to the Site plan in the Project Browser.
- On the Site tab of the Design toolbar, select the Toposurface button.
- The design Toolbar turns into the Sketch toolbar. Select the Point button.
- In the Options toolbar, change the elevation to 3'-0"
- Pick several points on the view window as shown below.
- In the Options toolbar, change the elevation to 2' 6" and pick several points as shown below. These points will be to the left of the first column of points.
- Change the elevation to 2'0" and repeat the procedure to the left.
- Keep doing this until you have reached 0'-0"
- Select the Properties button.
- Change the material to Site - Grass.
- Click OK twice.
- Select Finish Surface .
- Click 3D.
- Go to a plan view.
- Select Split Surface
- Pick the toposurface.
- Draw a rectangle representing a building.
- Select Finish Sketch
- Select the new topography.
- Click the Element Properties button on the Options Toolbar.
- Put the change the material to Site - Earth.
- Back in the Site Plan, select the Subregion button.
- Pick the Lines button.
- Draw a sidewalk, just as you would in AutoCAD. Two things to look out for:
The lines must form a continuous loop with no overlapping items and gaps.
You cannot go outside of the Toposurface boundaries.
- Once the lines are sketched in, select the Properties button.
- Change the material to Site - Asphalt.
- Select Finish Sketch
- Click 3D
- Go back to the site plan.
- Select the Site Component button from the Design Toolbar.
- Click Load… on the Options Toolbar.
- Go to the Planting folder.
- Open Shrub.rfa
- Click on the Element Properties button.
- Edit / New
- Duplicate…
- Call it Forsythia x Intermedia 2'.
- Change the plant height to 2'.
- Click OK.
- Place the new shrubs around the site.
